Bhutan Inbound Expedition may be one of the few travel companies in Bhutan who conducts a tour for traditional medicine study.
gSo-ba Rig-pa, the Traditional Bhutanese Medicine (TBM) is recognized as one of the most important cultural and traditional heritage of Bhutan ever since its formal introduction into the health care system in 1967. Today the Royal Government of Bhutan continues to preserve and promote this traditional medical system by effectively integrating it into the overall national health care delivery system. Hence, constant efforts are being directed towards making gSo-ba Rig-pa the centre of excellence in providing quality traditional medical services that is recognizable not only within the country but also at the international level.
Based on the growing demand and interest of the prospective students, our Short Term Programme in TBM comprises of three independent modules- (i) Basic Introductory Course, (ii) Advanced Introductory Course and (iii) Certificate Course, which are designed for duration of one week, one month and three months respectively. These modules are designed in order to enable the prospective students to choose and enroll in any one of them depending on their needs, interests and conveniences.
At the moment, FoTM is not ready to offer the option for on-line or part-time studies. Therefore, the mode of study will be full-time at FoTMfor all the three modules.
The primary purpose and intention of this Short Term Course in TBM at the Faculty of Traditional Medicine (FoTM) are to strengthen the role of gSoba Rig-pa in providing holistic health care both within and beyond the country by providing opportunities for the international students to experience and gain insight into the unique healing system that gSo-wa Rig-pa has got to offer. In doing so, in its own small unique ways, gSo-wa Rig-pa will contribute to improve the quality of life for the world’s afflicted population, thereby helping to build a happy and healthy global society.
