Amazing trip with amazing people
Our recent trip to Bhutan was amazing. We have been looking forward to the trip for the longest time.
But we never really expected to meet 2 amazing people during our trip and they are non other than Dorji our guide and Tenzin who was driving us around. They showed us what great service was taking extremely good care of us not just as guests in Bhutan but also as good friends. The 6 days that we spent with them went by like a breeze as we spent our time together during long drives and treks talking about so many varied topics. The were always punctual and never complained about the many stops we made for pics. In fact Tenzin took the best pics for us.
Both my hubby and I are vegetarians and sometimes we did not quite like the Indian food or limited vegetarian options they had in the hotels that we stayed. Tenzin knew the best Chinese and Bhutanese restaurants and made arrangements for delicious lunches and dinners for us. They also arranged for farmhouse meals on many occasions which allowed us to experience the local homes and living.
Tenzin made us feel safe on the long trips by road as he was extremely skillful at driving. Both Dorji and Tenzin never allowed us to open the car doors and always insisted that they do it for us. Both of them are very kind and courteous. They also made sure we drank enough water and had enough rest to acclimatize to the high altitude and thin air. Dorji always said his morning prayers for our safety and happiness on our journey.
I recently injured my knee and tore my meniscus and was very worried about out last trek to Tiger's Nest. Both of them continued to encourage me. On the day of the trek when we were at base, we were wondering if I needed a walking stick. Tenzin said confidently that it was not required and pointed to his arms and said.. " this is your waking stick". I was really touched. Through out the trek both of them continued to encourage me and held onto me to support me up the steep walking path. They carried our bags ad drinking water and jackets. They made sure I made it to Tiger's Nest and I will remain grateful to both of them without whom I may not have completed my divine journey to the monastery. They were truly GOD sent!
We have been on many travels over the years to far and near. We have met a few beautiful people who have touched our lives. Dorji and Tenzin will surely be on our minds and close to our hearts. We hope to meet them again. Since we have become friends and will certainly keep in touch to share our live journey and experiences.
GOD bless you both Dorji and Tenzin and thank you for being beautiful people who show loving kindness and compassion.

Bhutan - an incredible experience
The tour gave us an excellent feel of the Bhutanese way of life and the deep influence of Buddhist values. Our visits to the Nalanda Buddhist School and the Punakha Dzong were the high points in this respect. Many thanks to our young guide Mr Tandin Wangchuk.

It was like taking a step back in time. No new modern buildings in big cities like Thimpu and Paro. They kept the same Bhutanese architectural heritage. The people all wore traditional costumes during working hours. Got lots of opportunities to try Bhutanese food in hotels as well as a picnic by the river and in farm houses. Taking my time in an 8 hour hike to the Tiger's Nest with lunch at the mid point, I was later taken to have a relaxing stone bath infused with artemisia to help get rid of muscle and knee pains. A truly pampered trip!

Me and my friend had booked two weeks eastern Bhutan tour, as we were interested to see Brokpas, the indigenous people of Bhutan & and have some off beaten experience . To reach there we had to travel from West to East of Bhutan as Bhutan has just one International Airport at Paro which is at one end of West of Bhutan.
We visited in spring, and trust me this is the best time to visit Bhutan. The drive to Eastern Bhutan is long but the drive through forest filled with Rhododendron in riots of color is something else to witness. We also have to drive through heart of Thrumsingla National park from Bumthang and the drive through the forest of ferns, rhododendrons with no settlement in between- was surreal.
Occasionally we were greeted by yaks, we also saw some wild pheasant including Tragopoen which was spotted by our guide. Mongar is one place the bird lovers should not miss
Along the way we had to pass through many small towns like Punakha, Bomthang, Mongar and all has its beauty of their own. We stopped at these places for one or 2 night for some short hikes and cultural sightseeing
There were lot of hotel for us to choose while in Western Bhutan but as we move to Eastern Bhutan the hotel options are less, as many tourist limit their visit till western Bhutan.
And at Sakten and Merak , there are no tourist hotel and we were accommodated at homestay. It was perhaps the most tranquil vacation that we had. Visiting these places took us back in time.
We were welcomed with some tradition of wine offering, modernism had not reached this place. The people there still wear colourful unique dress , move in slow pace, has houses made of stones. Even in May Merak and Sakten was cold so it is good to prepare yourself with some warm clothes. And also the road to these places was recently introduced otherwise people had to hike for days to reach these places
If you are looking for luxury tour Eastern Bhutan tour is not recommended as they do not have even a single 5* hotels but if you are looking for something authentic, something out of the busy world , some time to reflect upon oneself then Eastern Bhutan tour is something you should not miss.
Personally this was what I was looking for in a vacation and I am grateful with Bhutan Inbound team as a whole for giving me this inexplicable experience. Thank you!
