Situated in the northern part of Thimpu city, an approximately 30-minute drive away from the main city lays the Pangrizampa monastery. It was one of the oldest monasteries on the land and has now been upgraded; it has become a College of Bhutanese Astrology. Founded in the 16th century it was home to the Unifier of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, in 1616.
