There are many trails to hike in Thimphu. The hike from Buddhapoint to Changangkha Lhakhang is the most popular one.
If you want to see the locals of Bhutan and at the same time take a forest bath, you got to visit Buddha Drodenma Statue and explore the nature trails commencing from there.
Buddha Dordenma is a happening place and full of life, especially in the evening. As you take a winding road to Kuenselphodrang, You will see people from all walk of life engaged in variance of activities; The old people circumambulating the gigantic statue of 169ft is a common sight to witness, some just come there to chill with the friends, some other to enjoy the spectacular view of Thimphu valley and world biggest Buddha statue.
And there is another group of health freak whom you see, cycling, biking or taking a walk through the trails which starts at Buddha point and ends at Changangkha Lhakhang .
As you hit the trail you will be greeted by thousands of prayer flags and welcomed by a pristine forest of pines, birch, and rhododendron trees. If you are lucky you can encounter few wild pheasant and bore.
The trail is well maintained. At some places along the trails Gazebos are set up from where you can have a spectacular view of Thimphu valley or to have a picnic lunch.
You can see bins around so you can responsibly dump the trashes in the bins and maintain the sanctity of the place. It is an easy hike, even an active child of 5 years can participate in this hike. It takes about 2hours to complete the hike from Buddha point to Changangkha Lhakhang, leisurely.
